Offered for sale is an extremely rare 512 TR Prototype, one of only two believed to exist. S/N 87440 was built in
January of 1991. Regular production of the 512 TR started in April 1991 with S/N 89100, the last Testarossa (non
512) was S/N 91923.
After S/N 87440 received a complete engine overhaul, new paint, and new seats it was sold to its first owner in May
1995 with approximately 22, 000 miles on the odometer. The paint job is excellent and was done in it’s original
color. The colors are Nero Metallizzato, (FER 901/C) on Charcoal, (A4304) This car is mentioned in the
automotive engineering publication “GB Progretti” issue #10. (see picture). The other Prototype, S/N 86815, is
finished in Rossa Corsa, (see picture).
This car runs and drives flawlessly. It feels, smells, and sounds like a new TR. The transmission shifts
perfectly has no issues whatsoever. This car is an absolute joy to drive.
We purchased this car in May of 2002 with 29, 952 miles on it from the second owner who bought the car from Ferrari
of Central Florida in April of 2001. The service records we have start in February of 2000. For records prior to
that you would have to inquire with Ferrari of Central Florida and Ferrari of New Jersey. Our records show, (among
other smaller items), an oil change in May of 2000 at 25, 000 miles, a major engine out service with timing belt and
new exhaust manifold gaskets in March of 2001 at 26, 493 miles (Ferrari of CF), an oil change and inspection in June
of 2002 at 30, 000 miles, an oil change in January of 2004 at 34, 122 miles, and lastly a new clutch, new motor
mounts and an oil change in March of 2007 at 37, 771 miles. The automatic seatbelts were just completely redone by
Ferrari of San Francisco and are working perfectly.
These 512 TR Prototypes came from the factory with rare Ferrari three piece racing wheels. These are sought after
by collectors and are very hard to find.
